Psychiatric consultant and psychotherapist at Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust. In 1998 she joined the Tavistock Trauma Service, where from 2008 she served as lead clinician. She is a psychoanalyst who also has training in trauma-focused therapies such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

She has extensive experience in psychotherapy with patients with complex trauma and dissociation. Dr. Stubley is co-chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ expert group on child sexual abuse. She is the author of numerous publications on trauma and co-editor (with Linda Young) of the book “Complex Trauma: The Tavistock Model” (2022), which has been translated into Polish and published (2025) by the Gdańsk Foundation of the Pomeranian Centre for Psychotraumatology. The book was nominated for the “Gravida Award” — a prize awarded by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP).

Presentation title: “Breaking the Closed System of Trauma Time” (Description of clinical work using EMDR therapy)

Psychologist, psychoanalytic psychotherapist, analyst. She completed postgraduate studies in child and adolescent psychotherapy in Heidelberg, Germany. She is the author of the first Polish monograph on parentification. The book “Adult children. Psychological Aspects of Role Reversal in a Family” (2014–2025, Scholar Academic Publishers) has become a top title in the psychotherapeutic canon, with 25 reprints to date.

Throughout her career, Prof. Schier has combined academic research with clinical work. For 30 years she worked at the Department of Clinical Psychology of the Child and Family at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Warsaw. She is the author of four books, one co-authored (with Prof. Marina Zalewska), two edited volumes, as well as over 50 book chapters and over 130 academic articles of national and international reach. Another important publication, based on research into body perception, a topic rarely addressed in Polish literature, is: “Lonely body. Experiencing Corporeality by Children and Their Parents” (ed.) (2020, Scholar Academic Publishers).

A highly respected expert who for years has shaped generations of psychotherapists, Prof. Schier is marking the culmination of her professional career with a lecture on the relationship between the body and corporeality and experiences of trauma. This will be a unique opportunity to hear the thoughts and reflections of an outstanding specialist in person, a moving moment we wish to share together with you, as a community.

Presentation title: The trauma of betrayal “imprinted on the body.” How can we come to terms with our wounds?

Katarzyna Prot-Klinger is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, group analyst, and professor at the Institute of Psychology at the Academy of Special Education in Warsaw. For many years, she has been studying individual and group reactions to traumatic events. She is the author of numerous articles and the monograph “Life After the Holocaust. Testimonies from Poland and Romania.”

For 30 years, she has been conducting individual and group psychotherapy with Holocaust survivors. Her clinical and research work in the field of therapy for survivors led to the development of her interests and research into psychosis as the mind’s response to traumatic experiences. She has carried out numerous research projects, including participation in the project “The History of Psychoanalysis in Poland in the German-Polish-Jewish Cultural Context, 1900–2015.” The project’s objective was to investigate the forgotten history of psychoanalysis in Poland and situate it within various cultural contexts.

She holds many important positions in international organizations dedicated to mental health, such as chair of the Israeli-Polish Mental Health Association (IPMHA) and vice-chair of the Polish Society for a Psychological and Social Approach to Psychoses (the Polish branch of ISPS).

Presentation title: Psychotherapy for Holocaust survivors in Poland thirty years later.

Specialist psychiatrist, specialist in child and adolescent psychotherapy, certified therapist of the Polish Psychiatric Association (PTP), certified supervisor conducting supervision across various regions of Poland (both for clinical teams and individually), specialist in community therapy (PTP).

Academic lecturer at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Chair of Psychiatry, Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University; head of the Home Treatment Team of the Clinical Ward of Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry, with which he has been associated for over a quarter of a century. He is President of the Board of the Kraków Foundation for Psychotherapy and Development “Dom Terapii.” From 2008 to 2017, he served as director of the Kraków Institute of Psychotherapy Podbrzezie. From 2000 to 2002, he acted as head physician of the Child and Adolescent Sanatorium- Rehabilitation Psychiatry Ward with Psychotherapy at the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Rabka-Zdrój. Co-founder and head (2002–2005) of the Outpatient Psychotherapy Clinic for Children and Adolescents and the Family Counselling and Therapy Centre of the “Dobra Nadzieja” Association. Recipient of the Alina Margolis- Edelman Award, granted by the Empowering Children Foundation and the Literary Notebooks Foundation, in recognition of outstanding contributions to helping children (2019). He provided substantive oversight and supervision (2008–2011) for the Family Psychotherapy Centre in Radom.

Research and training activities:
– Member of a team founded by Prof. Maria Orwid that works with chronic war trauma—among Children of the Holocaust, the so-called second generation of Holocaust survivors, and Roma victims of the Holocaust; author and co-author of over seventy scholarly publications and book chapters
– author of over two hundred conference presentations – defended his doctoral dissertation with honors; the dissertation was awarded the W. Moczulski Prize by the Executive Board of the Polish Psychiatric Association “for the outstanding quality of the doctoral dissertation”

Presentation title: Psychotherapy for Holocaust survivors in Poland thirty years later.

Psychologist, psychotraumatologist, and certified psychotherapist. A graduate of the University of Warsaw’s psychology program, he holds a European certificate in psychology. He works using an integrative approach. He has served as a lecturer in postgraduate studies in psychotraumatology and teaches trauma therapy courses at two psychotherapy schools.

He also regularly conducts the training course “Study of Integrative Therapy for Trauma Survivors” and the training program “Therapy for Individuals with Transgenerational Trauma.” Co-editor of the book “Postmodern Models of Helping” and co-author of the book “On the Bright Side of the Force.” Author of a book currently in progress on the therapy of individuals with trauma experience, based on neurophysiological research and a phased model of therapeutic work.

Presentation title: Between Memory and the Future. On the Transformation of Trauma and Identity.

Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Public Relations at the Cavalry Captain Witold Pilecki State University of Małopolska in Oświęcim. In 2002, he graduated from the Karol Adamiecki University of Economics in Katowice with a degree in Urban and Regional Economics and Public Relations, as well as Special Studies in the form of a Pedagogical Program at the University of Economics in Katowice in the field of pedagogy and economics.

He defended his doctoral dissertation in 2017 at the Faculty of Management of the University of Economics in Katowice. For seven years, he worked at the Oświęcim City Hall, the last four of which were in a managerial position. Since 2007, he has been working at the Cavalry Captain Witold Pilecki State University of Małopolska in Oświęcim. He has taught at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, the Tarnów School of Applied Sciences, and the University of Bielsko-Biała. As part of the Erasmus program, he lectured on territorial marketing at the Universidad Europea de Madrid in Spain.

He is the author of over a dozen publications in the fields of marketing, public sector management, and economics. His areas of academic interest include economics, marketing—particularly public relations and territorial marketing—and public administration. He is a member of the Senate of the Cavalry Captain Witold Pilecki State University of Małopolska in Oświęcim and the Board of the Youth Meeting House Foundation. He is actively involved in professional and social activities. In his private life, he is a husband, father, and motorcycle enthusiast.
